History of IDBI Bank :
IDBI was set up under an Act of Parliament as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India in July 1964. In February 1976, the ownership of IDBI was transferred to Government of India. In January 1992, IDBI accessed domestic retail debt market for the first time with innovative Deep Discount Bonds and registered path-breaking success. In December 1993, IDBI set up IDBI Capital Market Services Ltd. as a wholly-owned subsidiary to offer a broad range of financial services, including Bond Trading, Equity Broking, Client Asset Management and Depository Services. In September 1994, in response to RBI's policy of opening up domestic banking sector to private participation, IDBI in association with SIDBI set up IDBI Bank Ltd. Today, IDBI Bank has a network of 161 branches, 369 ATMs, and 8 Extension Counters spread over 95 cities.

IDBI is a Board-managed organisation. The responsibility for the day-to-day management of operations of the Bank is vested with the Chairman & Managing Director and two Deputy Managing Directors, who draw upon the support and expertise of a cross-disciplinary Top Management Team. As on March 31, 2007, IDBI had a combined employee base of 7500, including professionals from the fields of accountancy, management, engineering, law, computer technology, banking and economics.

IDBI Capital Market Services Limited : IDBI Capital Market Services Ltd. (head quartered in Mumbai), is a leading provider of financial services and is a 100% subsidiary of Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI). The organisation was set up in 1993, with the objective of catering to specific financial requirements of financial institutions, banks, mutual funds and corporate houses.

IDBI Home Finance Limited : "IDBI Homefinance Ltd." (IHFL) incorporated as a public limited company in the year 2000, has, in a short span of time, created a niche for itself in the highly competitive Home Loan segment since its acquisition of Tate Home Finance Ltd. in September 2003. During the FY 2005-06, IHFL's outstanding loan portfolio increased from Rs.923 crore to Rs.1517 crore, registering an impressive growth of 64%. This has been achieved despite lending only to individuals, the least risk weight segment of the sector. IHFL earned a total income of Rs.38 crore and reported a net profit of Rs.14 crore during the FY 2005-06, as against the total income of Rs.26 crore and net profit of Rs.8 crore earned during the FY 2004-05.

IDBI Intech Limited : IDBI INTECH is a Wholly owned subsidiary of IDBI Ltd., India's leading new generation commercial bank post merger of IDBI Bank with its parent (IDBI Ltd) and is fast spreading its wings across the country. IDBI has set up IDBI INTECH Limited (INTECH) in March 2000 to tap the opportunities arising from the IT sector.
INTECH capitalizes on the banking business knowledge acquired over the years supplemented with experience in Implementation & Management of state-of-the-art IT Infrastructure, Technology applications and Systems for one of the largest universal bank in India and uniquely positions itself, in the Information Technology Service Provider Space, to offer the IT-related products and services to the IDBI Group companies and the other organizations, focusing mainly on the BFSI sector.

IDBI Gilts Ltd : IDBI Gilts Ltd. was set up as a wholly owned subsidiary of IDBI Ltd. to undertake Primary Dealer [PD] Business with an authorized capital of Rs.200 crore and subscribed capital of Rs.100 crore. The PD business from IDBI Capital Market Services Ltd. [ICMS] would be de-linked and transferred to IDBI Gilts Ltd. The company was incorporated in December 2006 and obtained Certificate for Commencement of Business in February 2007. The company will focus on Bond trading, underwriting in auctions of primary issuance of government dated securities and treasury bills. In addition, IDBI Gilts also plans to be a major player in the interest rate and credit derivative market.
